Kindergarten Smiles
Week of February 13th--February17th
REMINDERS:
No School Monday, February 21, President’s Day
Tuesday, February 22 is a late start day. School begins at 11:25.
Last week’s highlight was the Valentine’s Day party. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped out at our Valentine’s Party. The day was enjoyed by all. Your hard work was appreciated. I would also like to thank you for the many Valentines and treats I received. Your kindness shines through in all you do.
There are some photos of the children passing out their Valentine's under the slide show tab.
Religion
We read and discussed Chapter 12, Helping Others. In this chapter the children discussed the ways Jesus wants us to help others. The children learned that Jesus wants us to feed the hungry and clothe the needy. We discussed how we have done that with our service projects at school. We talked about many ways that we can continue to help others.
Language Arts
We continued working in our workbook about Ettabetta. The children practiced writing capital E and
lower case e. The children are learning the short e sound as in elf. We will continue working with the letter E next week.
Math
We finished our unit on measurement. The children learned that some objects cover more area than others. Besides comparing area the children also compared temperature. They were very good at understanding the concepts in this chapter.
Social Studies
The eighth graders made and presented projects Friday afternoon for history day. The kindergartners were impressed and amazed with their presentations. I was able to get a few photos of this event. They are under the slide show tab.
We discussed President’s Day. We read a story about George Washington and one about Abe Lincoln. We will continue discussing the importance of our nation’s leaders next week.
